A new 30!

Gale has been landed by Si Fisher this afternoon at a weight of 30lbs 9oz. The previous biggest weight for this carp was 27lbs a couple of years ago. What a great way to start 2014, with a new 30 to celebrate....

2014 got off to a great start yesterday when Si Fisher caught the stunning common called Psst at a new biggest weight of 38.07, after just 2 hours fishing... A good omen!!

Exciting news this week - Heather gained a Distinction for her film about Ashmead's wildlife that is linked in an earlier post... Well done Heather!!! As one of the five best films produced by her year, Heather's work has been sent to Channel 4, who may use it for broadcast in the future.

I thought you might enjoy this lovely film by Heather Paterson. Heather joined us this spring for a few month's filming to complete a project for her MSc. in wildlife film-making. It was a great pleasure to have Heather at the lake and I think her work is just stunning and really does Ashmead justice.

A second 40 pound common...

Simon Fisher caught the immaculate common called JC Yesterday at a new biggest weight of 40lb 4oz.... She has been threatening to top forty for a while and looked stunning. That means Ashmead now has two commons over the magic 40lb barrier....

Keith Jones added to the run of large ashmead commons landed this year, with the capture of Rags at 37lb 10oz.

I had the pleasure of hosting Sir Pete as my guest with Mike Willmott recently. A wonderful evening spent in the company of a true gent. Sir Pete capped it off with a 29lb 8oz common..... Not quite the 60 that caused such a stir on the forums!

A great Opening Night BBQ last night and the season started with a couple of nice fish banked.... Alan landed the mirror called Blackeye at 29lb 10oz and I caught Psst this morning at 37lb 10oz after a spot of stalking.
