John Patterson moved onto some fish last night and landed a brace of superb carp... A mirror known as Blackeye at 29lb 10oz and the Razorback Common at 36lb. A brace of big Ashmead carp in a night is a rarity; good angling John!

Even the arrival of the cold snap hasn't entirely put the Ashmead carp off feeding. Before the cold arrived larrie caught Moonscale at 49lb, looking in superb condition and likely to go over 50lb for the first time this spring.
The Grey has been out at over 35lb and Roy landed a mirror that had gone 20lb for the first time.
Just as the cold air arrived, Skeff landed a portly 23lb 4oz common.
Perhaps there will be a rare chance to photograph an Ashmead carp in the snow this weekend?
The Long Common.... 41lb 4oz
Added at 21:32 on Saturday 13th October 2012
This morning I landed the Long Common from Ashmead at 41lb 4oz. Not only my first 40+ common and a lifetime dream fulfilled but a very special fish in another way too. Earlier this year Ashmead produced its first 40+ common, when Shaun Barrell landed the Heart Tail at 44lb 4oz. This was a real milestone for the lake and I was devastated when the great carp died from spawning stress in the summer. So the Long Common not only fulfilled a personal dream, it also opened a new chapter in Ashmead's future and made up in some part for the Heart Tail's loss.
